Solar Installers South Africa — trusted since 2010

Synergy Energy Solutions designs and installs turnkey solar PV, battery backup, EV charging and hydronic underfloor heating systems across South Africa. Tesla Certified and Sigenergy Approved — SAPVIA and PV GreenCard registered.

South Africa's turnkey solar, battery & heating installer since 2010

Since 2010, Synergy Energy Solutions has grown from a small Centurion installer into a national business with branches in Gauteng, the Western Cape and Limpopo. We specialise in the turnkey design, supply, installation and aftercare of solar PV systems, lithium battery storage, EV charging stations, heat-pump water heating and hydronic underfloor heating. We supply only the brands we trust to put in our own homes — Tesla, Sigenergy, Victron, Sunsynk, Deye, Fronius, JA Solar, Canadian Solar, BSL and Freedom Won — and we back every installation with SANS 10142-1 compliance, a valid Certificate of Compliance and long-term service support.

Whether you’re planning a small backup power system to ride through load shedding, a full off-grid solar system for a farm in Limpopo or the Karoo, a hybrid grid-tied solution for a luxury home in Sandton, or a warm hydronic underfloor heating system for a new Cape Town build, we design it around your actual load profile, roof orientation and budget — never a generic package. Our sales consultants are qualified electricians and engineers, not call-centre staff, so the person quoting you understands what they’re specifying and can stand behind it.

Why Synergy

What separates us from the solar crowd in South Africa

The SA solar market is noisy. Here’s what actually distinguishes a fit-and-forget installer from one that protects your investment for the next 20 years.

Proven track record

16 years in the South African solar industry and more than 1 700 completed installations across residential, commercial and off-grid sites.

Only reputable brands

Tesla, Sigenergy, Victron, Sunsynk, Deye, Fronius, JA Solar, Canadian Solar, BSL and Freedom Won — the equipment we trust to install in our own homes.

Fully accredited

SAPVIA members, registered on the PV GreenCard programme, and ECA-affiliated. Every installation carries a valid SANS 10142-1 Certificate of Compliance.

Turnkey & holistic

Solar PV, lithium battery, underfloor heating, heat pumps, EV charging, geyser conversions — one designer, one project manager, one warranty relationship.

In-house engineering

Our sales consultants are qualified electricians and engineers — not call-centre staff. The person quoting you understands exactly what they’re specifying.

National coverage

Branches in Centurion, Cape Town and Polokwane, with service teams travelling nationally for commercial, farm and luxury-residential projects.

Warranties & guarantees

Backed by real guarantees, not just a handshake

Solar is a 20-year investment, so here's the cover that protects yours, and the team that'll still be around to honour it.

Up to 25-year product warranties

Tier-1 solar panels carry manufacturer warranties of up to 25 years. Tesla and Sigenergy batteries are covered for 10 years, and hybrid inverters for 5 to 10 years.

Our own workmanship guarantee

Every Synergy installation is backed by our workmanship guarantee, on top of the manufacturer cover. If our work is ever the problem, we'll put it right.

We handle every claim for you

One point of contact for any warranty issue, whatever the brand. After 16 years and 1,700+ installs, we're still here to honour it, not a fly-by-night that disappears in year three.

Certificate of Compliance, every time

Every system is signed off to SANS 10142-1 by a qualified electrician with a valid Certificate of Compliance, so it's insurable and SSEG-ready.

Pricing & financing

How much does a solar system cost in South Africa?

Every home is different — roof orientation, daily load profile, backup priority and brand choice all change the final number. That’s why we don’t advertise package prices. We design and price your system around your actual needs, then introduce you to our accredited renewable-energy finance partners so it can start paying for itself from day one.

What affects the price of your system

  • System size — a small backup-only system is a fraction of the cost of a whole-home off-grid setup.
  • Battery capacity — how many hours of backup you want during load shedding (and overnight).
  • Brand selection — Tesla Powerwall 3, Sigenergy SigenStor, Sunsynk, Deye, Victron and others sit at different price points.
  • Roof complexity — single-storey tile vs. multi-pitch IBR vs. flat-concrete affects mounting and labour.
  • Electrical work — DB-board upgrades, earthing, cable runs and SSEG registration where required.
  • Add-ons — EV charging, hydronic heating integration, geyser tie-in or pool-pump load shifting.
Get an accurate, itemised quote. Send us your latest Eskom or municipal bill and a few photos of your roof and DB board, and our engineers will send back a detailed proposal — no obligation, no hard sell.

Solar FAQs

Answers to what South African homeowners actually ask

Eight of the questions we get asked most often, answered plainly. Don’t see yours? Get in touch — we’re glad to help.

How much does a solar system cost in South Africa in 2026?

Installed solar and battery systems in South Africa in 2026 typically range from approximately R45 000 for a small backup setup to R260 000 and more for a large hybrid home system with lithium storage. The final cost depends on your monthly kWh usage, roof orientation, how much of your home you want to back up during load shedding and whether you choose a Tesla Powerwall 3, a Sigenergy SigenStor or a Sunsynk or Deye hybrid inverter with battery storage. Synergy Energy Solutions provides a free site assessment and an itemised ZAR quote before any work begins.

Will solar power completely eliminate my Eskom bill?

A correctly sized hybrid or off-grid solar system can reduce your Eskom bill by 80 to 100 percent, depending on your consumption profile, roof space and local municipal tariff. Most residential clients see savings of 60 to 90 percent within the first billing cycle. Going fully off-grid is possible but typically costs more than running a grid-tied hybrid system that covers most of your daytime use and rides through load shedding with a battery bank.

Do you install solar systems outside of Gauteng?

Yes. We have full installation branches in Centurion (our head office), Cape Town and Polokwane, and we service residential and commercial clients across South Africa, including Pretoria, Johannesburg, the Vaal Triangle, Stellenbosch, the Winelands, the Garden Route, Mpumalanga and the North West. National projects are handled by our Centurion team with dedicated site supervisors, so workmanship and SANS 10142 compliance are identical wherever you are.

Can I finance my solar installation in South Africa?

Yes. Synergy Energy Solutions works with several accredited renewable-energy financing partners who offer solar loans, rent-to-own and home-improvement facilities tailored to solar PV and battery systems. Monthly repayments are often less than the Eskom bill you replace, which means the installation can effectively pay for itself from day one. We introduce you to our finance partners once your system design is signed off.

How long does a solar installation take?

Most residential solar and battery installations are completed in one to three working days on site, including commissioning, Certificate of Compliance paperwork and app setup. Commercial PV systems and hydronic underfloor heating projects take longer and are scheduled around your operations or build programme. You receive a full handover, valid Certificate of Compliance and monitoring-app walkthrough before we leave site.

Are your solar installations SANS and NRS compliant?

Every Synergy installation is carried out to the latest SANS 10142-1 and NRS 097-2-3 standards by qualified electricians, and every system is handed over with a valid Certificate of Compliance. We are SAPVIA members, registered on the PV GreenCard programme, and affiliated with the Electrical Contractors Association of South Africa — so your installation is documented, insurable and SSEG-registration ready.

Do I need to register my solar system with Eskom or my municipality?

If your solar system is grid-tied — meaning it stays connected to Eskom or your municipality — yes, you are required to register it as a Small-Scale Embedded Generator (SSEG). Registration fees and incentives change often: Eskom and several municipalities have waived or reduced the SSEG fee more than once, and the rules differ by area — so we confirm the current SSEG fee and requirements for your municipality as part of your quote. Synergy supplies all the documentation you need for SSEG registration, including the SANS 10142 Certificate of Compliance, single-line diagram and NRS 097-2-3 inverter compliance certificate. Municipal processes vary; we guide you through the Tshwane, Johannesburg, Ekurhuleni and Cape Town processes as standard.

Which solar panels and batteries do you recommend for South Africa?

For South African conditions we typically specify Tier-1 solar panels from JA Solar or Canadian Solar paired with a hybrid inverter from Sunsynk, Deye, Victron or Fronius, and lithium battery storage from Tesla (Powerwall 3), Sigenergy (SigenStor), BSL or Freedom Won. Final selection depends on your budget, desired backup time, scalability requirements and whether you intend to go off-grid in future. All equipment we install is NRS 097-approved and SAPVIA endorsed.
